Unexpected Lesson - June 26, 2023
Hello!
Here's the update of my week. Time is flying! I come home in August. But the work is going well, and I'm happy to be staying in Geneseo. The Lord must really need me here. I love it!
TUESDAY:
Well
Tuesday went really well! We had an awesome meeting with our friend
Jodi! We read 2 Nephi 2 and she had some deep questions about Adam and
Eve and why they had to fall.
We then a lesson with
someone I found 6 months ago, but wasn't quite ready 6 months ago. He's
ready now, and he has cute little girl named Genevieve who also wants
to learn! We gave her a children's Book of Mormon in the lesson and
pointed her to a chapter and she just started reading and it was so
cute! We set up another lesson on Sunday!
WEDNESDAY:
We
went on exchanges with the Batavia Sisters! Which was a lot of fun! We
started out the morning knocking and eventually we knocked this guys
door and had an interesting conversation with him, which took like 35
minutes. I don't remember much of it but I do remember that he didn't
like the word "church" which was interesting. He kept on saying you don't
need a church or a building, which in a sense is true. God is everywhere. But He did ask us to gather and do the Sacrament, so building.
And
then that afternoon we talked to a lot of people and invited quite a few
to church and a few of them said they would come! And this one lady,
Halee, mentioned how she didn't go to church but had been wanting to
start! And then we mentioned The Book of Mormon and Halee said how she
had heard of a site for it! Apparently she used to work at some sort of
call help center and there was this lady who would call often and have her read simplified Book of Mormon verses to help her! It was so cool
that that small act affected Halee, who we were talking to years later!
And
then we had awesome lesson with a Genevieve in their area! She had a
lot of great questions and was so open! And she had two cute little
boys!
FRIDAY:
Well
first of all I got to pet a horse! His field was on the street we were
at! And we met someone else who had just moved in from Salt Lake city
and he said we could come back! He has his own beliefs but seems willing
to listen.
We also had an interesting conversation with someone else named Jim, and he had some very interesting thoughts. He has done a
very in depth study of Word meanings in the Bible and as such believed
Christ would not come and that he wasn't the son of God, and they didn't
have bodies. It was very interesting, but not what the scriptures say based on my understanding. I do enjoy hearing other's perspectives.
We
then had a lesson with a newer person, her name is Carolynn and we
talked and explained The Book of Mormon and both she and her daughter
want a physical copy! So we set up a time to meet!
We
also had a lesson with our friend Eric! It was really good, we reviewed
the restoration and also talked about where different people today are
descended from! And we also brought up patriarchal blessings which was
good!
SATURDAY:
We stopped by to see Amy! She was someone we met about a month ago! We had
given her a Book of Mormon and she had we could come back. We stopped by
and she wasn't home. But this time we stopped and caught her right as
she was heading out the door and we set up a specific time to come back!
Also we had a lesson with Suzalyn and then gave her a Book of Mormon to give to someone else!
We also met with Kara and it went well!
SUNDAY:
I
gave a talk, it was about how The Restoration draws us closer to God
and Jesus Christ! I used Elder Stevenson's talk from general conference,
which was very good, highly suggest!
We then had a good amount of
lessons! One of them unexpected! So this person, Tim is a new friend we
made and he had canceled but there were those in his apartment complex
we wanted to visit so we stopped by and they were sitting outside but we
were going to say hello and walk by because they had canceled! But
Genevieve's mom called out to us and was like she wants to talk to you!
So we ended up having a good lesson with Tim and Genevieve! And we read
The Book of Mormon with them which was awesome!
It's
so amazing how God truly prepares his people to hear the truth! And I
have seen how he truly helps those come into our path that we need to
help!
Thanks for all the Love and Support!
Love,
Sister Paige Martin
