Happy 4th of July this week! I love our Independence! Here's my recap of last week:
MONDAY:
So we have a newer friend,
Carolynn and she had expressed interest in a Book of Mormon so we went
to drop it off but she ended up moving and not being there anymore, so
instead we had a great conversation with Chad! He has a Christian
background and when we first started he was like what do you have new to
offer me? So we talked a little bit about The Saviors atonement and he
was like yes I know that part so we decided to bring in The Spirit
world. He found it interesting that people are allowed another
chance. And he said it wasn't what his pastor had just told him. But he
accepted a copy of The Book of Mormon and said we could come back in a
month!
WEDNESDAY:
We had interviews with President Gentry and had district council! We also
had an awesome lesson with one of our members which was great! Otherwise
a bit uneventful.
THURSDAY:
We
decided to go visit a bunch of people, and one of them was someone I
had stopped by about 1 year ago in this area but it was just really hard
to keep in contact because he never responded our texts or calls. Well
this time after we stopped by he responded and we almost have a meeting
set up with him! And we got to pet his horses!
We
also met with this woman named Wendy she is someone I believe I
actually found 1 year ago, I think? And she wasn't ready then but she is
now! We had an awesome lesson with her and she said she wanted to learn
more about our church! Her father-in-law was also there and kept
pulling her off track so we heard a lot of her family background, but he
did accept a Book of Mormon at the end! And we set up times to come
back!
FRIDAY:
We
got in contact with Elizabeth again which was exciting!
We also got a
new preach my gospel and it's really cool! Highly suggest y'all look
into it!
We also called somebody who I think I found a year ago and set
up a time to meet! Otherwise Friday was pretty quiet!
SATURDAY:
While we were doing community service, I was standing there
talking to someone, and a bug flew into my mouth! There are a lot of mini bugs in New York and this one just flew right in! So I did what anyone should do...I swallowed it! Luckily it didn't
taste like much. Extra protein as they say.
We had a zone council, which was
so much fun! We did a church history test trivia thing which was so much
fun!
And then that evening we were walking around this one area and someone called out, hey Sisters and we were like,
huh! So this person, John ended up being an inactive member so he
introduced us to his significant other and his other family and we set
up a time to meet with him!
And then we met with
our on date friend and it went well, we talked the atonement and then
ended up talking about prayers and scripture study! Which was awesome!
And then we met with Kara. She loves the missionaries so much. She loves the gospel but has so much resistance from friends and family.
SUNDAY:
We
had church which was fun! We also had a group lesson with Suzalyn and
Kara which was fun! We ended up after the lesson talking about black and
white movies!
We
also went knocking and there was a man who mainly spoke Spanish with
broken English and I speak English and have been learning Spanish and so
I was trying to talk to him and we finally got his number so we could
talk to him but as we were walking away we realized we forgot to ask for
his name, and we were like nooo.
And then we had a mission devotional to end off the week! It was fun!
This mission has taught me so much! And I hope I have made some small difference out here. I love it! I can feel the Lord's hand guiding me, and I've seen so many miracles. He Lives!
Love,
Sister Paige Martin
