A Switcheroo and a Smoky Picture - June 12, 2023
Hello All!
So much smoke here in NY because of the Canada Fires
TUESDAY:
We had a lesson with our friend Bryan and talked a lot about church. He really opened up and told us about his concerns and so we talked about a church tour and he said maybe so pray that he will agree to have one!
We also met with an interested person we've been meaning to stop by for awhile! So we get out and there are these two guys on a porch and you could see they were watching us. So we jumped out and knocked on this person's door, his name was Pete, and one of the guys from the porch walks up to us. Turns out he was Pete! So he showed us his garden and said text him to set something up!
We then met with Diana which was interesting! Though she was louder this time, so we could hear her.
We also met with our recent convert Bryan! Have I confused you with two Bryan's yet?
And then we met with Kara!
WEDNESDAY:
We had district council! We talked about how important it is to work with members!
We also had Chris break up with us (meaning he canceled his baptism date), and one of our members passed away

But we also talked to a nice lady, Colleen, and set up a time to meet with her! And apparently she had been thinking about us a few days previously!
And we have a really promising person that we have been unable to get in contact with so we tried messenger and we got in contact!
And then young womens was canceled because we have been having really terrible smoke from the fires in Canada so we made bird houses out of gourds with the young men instead! So this day was both the worst and the best!
THURSDAY:
We had service at the food pantry which is always fun!
We were also getting out to knock a street and we saw this guy outside and went to talk to him. His name was Chuck and he ended up having a Book of Mormon already that had been given him by previous missionaries! And he said we could call him sometime to set up a meeting! Though he seemed uncomfortable during most of the interaction.
We then called someone whom we had talked to before, her name was Embrey, but instead someone else answered! His name was Verdell and so we talked about why we called and a little bit of our message, and then asked him if we could call and talk more sometime. And he was like sure I'm always open to talking about Jesus Christ!
We also talked to the sweetest lady named Sally! We gave her a Book of Mormon!
FRIDAY:
Ok so we put someone else on date! His name is Eric has been being taught for a little bit but he wanted to know everything before he agreed to his baptism. But in the evening we had our bishop join us and it went so good! Bishop had the perfect experience to share and we talked about how we could teach him everything before baptism but that step of faith is powerful! And he agreed to be baptized, and he also might be moving to Geneseo soon! So pray that he will reach his date on September 10th! T
his was the switcheroo. We lost a baptism date, and gained one!
We also did our other service! Yes we have lots of service!
So we had been knocking along this street and we stopped by and met someone who had talked with missionaries previously so we gave him a pamphlet and he said we came back!
SATURDAY:
Well we did some community service! Which was fun! We helped put together a wall which is an old wall that the community finds very special so that was fun! We also talked about the second coming which was interesting.
Also we got peaches!
And then we called this lady named Brittany and she was someone who had been previously interested in a church tour and so we asked her if she wanted one and she said yes and her family wants to come as well so we set up a church tour with them! And her husband asked us about our favorite Bible verse!
SUNDAY:
Well church was awesome! And Kara was there! This is significant because she was baptized a few months ago, but her family has been preventing her from coming to church for a while. So she was so happy to come!
We also texted Verdells number which ended up being the wrong number. We also stopped by some older members which was fun! We also had a member meal which was interesting. But otherwise it was a pretty quiet day.
Love the missionary life! I can't believe I only have 2 months left. I've talked to my parents about jobs and school, etc. I'm excited for all that, but I'm trying to keep my focus here on the people I'm serving. I see miracles all the time. God is so good!
Happy Birthday to my Mom this week!
Love,
Sister Paige Martin
