Scissors and works - Nov 7, 2022

Hi All,

(Many pictures will be sent next week but I didn't quite have time or very many this week, sorry :))

TUESDAY:

We had a really good lesson with one of our returning members, and a member! Though it was really interesting because of the way it was all set up, and because of traffic I didn't hear much of their conversation😶 but she was really happy he got to join! We also had an interesting lesson with a part member family as well! They were pretty engaged!

WEDNESDAY:
It was a good day! We did exchanges and I went into an ASL area for the afternoon. It was a lot of fun! Very interesting though because my companion would be signing the lesson and I was kind of just sitting there unless prompted because I did nor know what they were saying. But it was a lot of fun!

THURSDAY:
So we had some really good lessons. And one big one was we were teaching two of our friends in a group lesson and as the lesson continued, a few of the neighborhood kids just came and joined the group, and they accepted some Book of Mormons. It was interesting and to totally unexpected, but God works in mysterious ways. And our friend Suzalyn chose a baptismal date!🥳 and she is so excited the spiritual experience she while choosing it was amazing! And she is looking forward to her new birthday, spiritually at least!

FRIDAY:
I made up much own recipe for waffles! Which was surprisingly good! Also a few months ago I decided to start learning Spanish, because we met a surprisingly large amount of those who speak mainly Spanish. And I haven't been able to use it much. Well this evening I did, I was able to introduce myself to someone! And we got a return call so that was good!

SUNDAY:
Wow a day of miracles! So at church we had two friends! Suzalyn and Kara!  Suzalyn, who is amazing, had her ride had fall through about an hour before church. We had been scrambling to find her one and were still looking by the time Sacrament meeting started. So we get a text from her saying I am coming to church and so I will walk there and hopefully arrive by second hour. We were eventually able to find a ride but her determination to get to church was awesome!

And our other friend Kara was having a hard time because this was her first time to church so she was having a hard time because it was so new. But our friend Suzalyn really tried her best to help Kara feel at home, it was awesome!

We have been trying to get two less active women to church but both had canceled that morning so we were sad buy we couldn't do much. But during 2nd hour we saw one of them in the foyer, way to go Sister Germano!🥳 And she has plans to come every week now as well! All because her ride, one of our numbers didn't accept no for an answer, because she was spirit led!

We had a lesson with Kara that evening, where she said she would try church for a few more weeks! During the lesson we would sometimes mention Joseph Smiths name and you could see her tense up. So when talked to her about she said others had told her Joseph Smith twisted the word of God by saying you need to work yourself up to heaven. And our member had a pair of split able scissors. So using the scissors we were able to explain you need both works and faith, that one does not work without the other but that they work together. And so by the end of the lesson she willing to pray about Joseph Smith and a lot calmer when we mentioned his name!

Love you all! Have the best week!  I love to hear from you all.  Thanks to those who have reached out!
